Anatomy is the branch of science that deals with the internal structures of the devices. Generally it takes our mind in that stage where we want to know which kind of internal components are present in the devices. We always think what is there inside the various devices like iPhone, camera, laptop, toast, radio. But, what we imagine is that there must be circuit boards, mother boards and red, blue, green wiring that are connecting the various things as well as working as a bus to carry the different data signals. The reality is far different from our imagination.
This branch deals with creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society and the environment. We depend on technology in our day to day lives without further thinking what could be the consequences or repercussions of it. We think a lot about the importance of learning new technology and use many devices for long hours. That's why I am explaining the different aspects in order to broaden the scope of the anatomy of technology.
Let me give you an example of the anatomy of a wearable tracking device which is used for tracking each and every movement. It involves a lot of interior components like battery which helps to keep device working when not connected to power device, motor which generates vibrations, motion sensor is a device that senses the motion of a person with multi-axis motion detector, bluetooth chip is used in a manner that wirelessly synchronized your device with smart-phone or computer. Furthermore, it has a splash-proof cover that helps in socket protection, power button that helps an electronic device to power on and off, status LEDs is a three colored LED that indicates the unit is powered on as well as the statics of battery, Syncing jack that is also called as a connector which helps in making synchronization with the phone, tablet or laptop. Creating the interior structure of the devices require hands on experience as a lot of R&D (Research & Development) and analysis is being carried out. After R&D the approximate cost for the device is calculated. As the cost estimation at the initial stages provide analysis of the final value of the product and then design is prepared with required specifications and parameters.
After preparing a design of the internal components they are plugged as per their locations. In this process interior structure is stored with in the case and outer covering. Storing of the internal components should be carefully done as minute defect leads to the failure of system. After storing these components the accessing part comes into play.
As the final components are prepared with its interior circuitry that requires a lot of skills and knowledge of the workers now they are ready for moving to vendors. Before moving to the different vendors there is a quality test that identifies the devices and its components which must be in proper form and also shock resistant. Then, finally they are dispersed to the dealers and vendors.
Once the product reaches the market and if there is any limitation in its working or there are some performance errors they are checked again in the laboratories as per the feedback from customers. The suggested changes are implemented to make the device better. As the product once reconfigured as per customer demands it is again processed into the market with more reliable circuitry and functions to enhance the user experience.
